Dallas came to SoCo Rescue in Aug 2022 when he was only about 7 weeks old. He was scrounging for food at a construction site when the men installing the air condition unit noticed the brick masons laughing as they were throwing broken bricks at him. The HVAC tech, a former SoCo Rescue staff member, scooped up the tiny little pup and brought him to our rescue.

The only reason Dallas has spent a year with us is because SoCo's President/CEO Scott Bennett instantly became attached to him and considered adopting Dallas as one of his own. But Scott considered his own advice, to always put what's best for a dog first, and made the difficult decision to let Dallas find a home where he could continue developing into becoming a very special friend for someone.

Scott will tell you that Dallas is very smart, learning the command "Sit" very quickly and picked up on daily routines rather easily as well. Dallas has almost mastered his crate training and now very rarely will potty inside it. He's also doing very well with his leash training, but does need additional leash and house training. Dallas' very friendly and playful personality has helped a number of other SoCo dogs with their transition into our rescue when they arrived. Dallas has also been very eager to meet and befriend new people, having no issues with being timid. Scott thinks that with proper training, Dallas would do very well with agility and/or therapy dog training. Scott also knows that Dallas has some special purpose in his life, a mission to accomplish, even if that's only to give an enormous amount of love and devotion to someone who desperately needs it.

Of course Dallas has received the very best of care since his arrival as Scott dotted over him. As a puppy, he received all of his first year vaccinations, de-wormings and monthly preventatives and just has received an update on all of his annual care. He's also been neutered. Once fully grown, Dallas should be in the 30-35 pound range and is currently about 25lbs.. His ideal home would allow Dallas plenty of room and time to enjoy his sometimes high energy level as well as plenty of interaction with people to snuggle and play with.

Scott does have a special requirement attached to the adoption of Dallas: to keep in touch so he can follow the life of Dallas and see just how incredible he becomes.
