Carmel came to our rescue, along with ten other dogs, after their former owner was evicted from her home. The former owner had contacted a number of other rescues seeking help for her dogs but everyone was packed full and could offer no help. Unable to afford the required intake fee at her local animal control, where the dogs would have faced being immediately euthanized, the owner contacted our rescue after the animal control suggested she contact us. After much work and a lot of prayers, SoCo was able to take in all eleven of the dogs. Carmel and her brother, Sugar Baby, were both placed into the same foster home.

Carmel adapted quickly to her new surroundings, being friendly and playful with the fosters and their two personal dogs. She loves to run and play just as much as she enjoys getting belly rubs. Carmel has a lot of energy but can also curl up onto a lap and be very relaxed. She will make a great family pet, being very people friendly, but  her energy level may not be suitable for very small children. We're not sure how she'll do sharing a home with cats so a cat test would be required. 

Carmel has now been fully vetted, recently tested negative for heartworms and has been started on her monthly preventatives. While she lived indoors at her former home Carmel may need some additional house training and a little more leash training to master both skills.
