**Ferdinand will be available for adoption at our upcoming event at Rosedale Mills in Pennington, NJ over the June 16-18 weekend.**

Ferdinand could have easily been named "Mr. Charisma"  as he definitely has plenty of that! 

Ferdie, as he's also called, came to SoCo Rescue after his former owner had to reluctantly surrender him to us. While he was with his former owner, Ferdie received excellent care and was kept up to date on all of his vaccinations and monthly preventatives. We did have him neutered and renewed his vaccines, wormings and such and he even tested negative for heart worms.

While we don't have official paperwork that verifies it, Ferdie is a true Dachshund, not a mixed breed. His personality is that of a true Dachshund: friendly, fearless and thinks he's the King of the Hill...until a grasshopper jumps at him! He is very accepting of new people but tends to be the dominate dog when around other males. He has and can be around other dogs but a slow introduction would be best to see who he is accepting of. Ferdie may growl at another male dog but has never attacked or injured any other dog. Ferdie's acceptance of people makes him a great candidate as a family companion. 

As with all dachshunds, specific care should be given to ensure their future good health: yearly dental cleanings and trying to limit their jumping as it can cause spine damage in later . Their toenails can also be an issue as they tend to grow rapidly and require trimming often. Dachshunds are natural hunters and also known to be very affectionate.
